NASBP is pleased to announce that it has added two outstanding attorneys to its Attorney Advisory Council (AAC): Myriah Jaworski, Beckage; and Marilyn Klinger, SMTD Law. The participants on the NASBP AAC provide excellent content through articles, podcasts, virtual seminars, blogs, and in-person presentations to educate NASBP members and the public about contract and commercial surety bonds, construction, government contracting, data privacy, and other, related issues.  NASBP welcomes Jaworski and Klinger to the AAC. Myriah JaworskiJaworski leads Beckage’s Privacy Litigation Practice Group, where she represents clients in data breach actions, technology vendor disputes, and the defense of consumer class actions and related regulatory investigations. Recognized as a Super Lawyers Rising Star–Litigation, Jaworski practices in many jurisdictions throughout the United States in both state and federal courts.

Jaworski is one of Beckage’s dedicated California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) attorneys whose members routinely counsel clients on implementation of CCPA policies and procedures, including assisting businesses to operationalize Data Subject Request (DSR) processes, perform CCPA training and record keeping, and manage third-party vendor relationships. Jaworski also works with clients to evaluate and implement new technologies, including AI and machine learning tools to advance business goals and to negotiate contractual addendums and vendor management protocols. Jaworski works with clients to mitigate potential privacy risks and ethical biases and to provide meaningful audit rights to business units for their use of AI and machine learning tools. Her clients include major E-commerce retailers, international news media companies, consumer goods manufacturers and retailers, health care organizations, and financial entities.

Jaworski is a Certified Information Privacy Professional, United States (CIPP/US) and a Certified Information Privacy Professional, Europe (CIPP/E), as certified by the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).

Marilyn KlingerMarilyn Klinger serves as the Managing Partner of SMTD Law’s Los Angeles office. She is involved in all aspects of construction law on a state and national level, representing the full spectrum of the construction industry—owners, contractors, subcontractors, and sureties. Klinger’s practice includes time-related claims and litigation, legal advice and counsel regarding the contracting process, payment enforcement/defense, administrative and scope claims and litigation, and counseling and transactional services to the construction industry. In addition, she has extensive experience in dispute resolution including litigation, trial, appeals, arbitration, and mediation.

Klinger is a hard-working “straight shooter.” Early in her career, she became a pioneer in construction law, being one of the first women attorneys to practice in the primarily male-dominated field. She has established a nationwide practice involved in all aspects of construction law. She is recognized as an innovator in legal problem-solving and as a thought leader who is a frequently published author and sought-after speaker for professional legal, construction, and educational publications and organizations. Chambers USA 2020 ranked Klinger one of the top construction lawyers in California.  Recently, she has been selected as Top Attorney of the Year in Construction Law by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership and commitment to the profession.
