FLOYD “MAC” MCINTOSH
April 3, 1932 – September 15, 2020

NASBP was saddened to learn of the passing on September 15, 2020 of Floyd “Mac” McIntosh, 88, of the NASBP member Marsh & McClennan Agency of Houston, Texas.

NASBP First Vice President Tracy Tucker, President of the Tucker Agency, said: “Mac was a legendary surety professional in the State of Texas. His knowledge and viewpoints helped train two generations of underwriters and agents. Mac generated incredible relationships that last lasted his lifetime, and he will be deeply missed by his friends and family.”

Mac was in the surety business for over 66 years. He started with Trinity Surety in 1954, and then he was Bond Manager for Transamerica from 1964 until 1972. From there he joined Seaboard Surety and was there until his retirement in 1992. Mac returned to the surety industry as a surety agent until his passing last month.

NASBP Past President Lawrence McMahon, Executive Vice President, Surety Manager of Alliant Insurance Services, Inc. said: “He was a legend. He ran the Dallas branch and was the RVP for years. He trained and mentored numerous Seaboard trainees. They sent Kevin Adams, Scott Guyette, and John Gambino, all east coasters, to Dallas; and he taught them the bond business. He will be sorely missed.”

Mac was born April 3, 1932, in Chicago, Illinois, to John Lawrence McIntosh and Dorothy Grace Campbell. He graduated from McAllen High School, and served in the United States Air Force from 1950 to 1953. Mac married Peggy Inez Haak on June 4, 1954, in San Antonio, Texas.

Mac is survived by his wife Peggy McIntosh; children Debora Kay Brown (Neil), Michael Lee McIntosh, and Jeffrey Todd McIntosh (Lynn); grandchildren Robyn Brown, Clay Brown, Trevor McIntosh, and Nicole McIntosh (fiancé Kenneth Callis); great-granddaughter Taturn Grace Callis. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Mary Young and Carroll Whitlock, and brother Wayne McIntosh.

A Celebration of Life was held in September at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas, and was also live streamed on the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrrow Facebook page for those unable to attend. To read more kind words about Mac, see his obituary page.
